What is a shed? Or a Garden Shed? It is a small backyard building generally used to store different things. Many of us use it as a storage place while some people use it as a workshop. It is also an significant part of the beautification of the garden.

Some people buy shed kits, many build sheds from a scratch. Buying used storage sheds can be a good option when the budget is low.

There are different kind of sheds and I am gonna give you an overview about it.

Garden Sheds: Garden sheds are the best place to store lawn and garden equipments. These can be made of woods, metal or plastic. Wood is for excellence and good looks, where as you can have a metal shed for more safe keeping. Adding shelves and hooks will help you find more space to store more stuff.

Wood Sheds: Costly, larger and beautiful. They can include windows, roof, and electric outlets. They are generally used as outdoor office, hangout places or a workshop where they can nourish their hobbies Shed owners can match their sheds to their houses with the use of paint and by adding ornamental items such as flowerboxes, shutters, weathervanes, finials, as well as air-conditioning units, furniture and airing machines.

Bike Sheds: Bike sheds are easy to build. Having a basic shape of three walls and a roof and a small size, it works like a small garage and are used to store bikes. Although the owner can add locks to maximize security.

Boat Sheds: These are house boats and boat related items can be stored in.

Agricultural Sheds: Agricultural sheds are generally big and long lasting. Mainly made of wood, agricultural sheds are generally used to store hay, house livestock or park farm kits. Sometimes, horses and cattle live and are fed there.

Railway Sheds: Are made to store locomotives and materials related to it.

Metal Sheds: Metal sheds are best for termite-prone areas since it cannot be attacked by them. They are also flame resistant. However, they are with no trouble dented by winds and may corrode in time. Metal Sheds are a good option when storing stuff on a short-term basis since in the long run, metal will sooner or later start to rust.

Plastic Sheds: Are acknowledged for their anti U.V. light characteristics. They are cheaper than metal sheds and are more firm and robust. Plastic sheds are highly customizable since you can add shelving, peg boards, windows, and skylights to it.

Wooden Sheds: Wood Storage Sheds can merge well with the landscape. But need regular maintenance. They are the most elegant sheds, but they are also the easiest to be injured.

Vinyl Sheds: Are the strongest type of shed material and they don't require to be painted. They do not oxidize and do not call for much maintenance, but on the flip side of the coin, they are the most costly.

Used Sheds: If you are in short of budget, consider buying a used shed. They are made from a variety of materials depending on their use. Metal, plastic, wood, and vinyl are the most popular ones. Despite of the materials used, each has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Some US states require people to secure a permit before installing a used shed. They will need to assess the material, structure, and purpose of the shed before accepting a request, making sure that it is safe for use. So, don't forget to acquire one from the authority.
